Top Three Marketing New Year’s Resolutions for 2016

January 20th, 2016 Posted by Business Development No Comment yet

We are almost a month into 2016 and I recognize the pool of marketing opportunities is large and the time your organization has to dedicate is limited. You are busy managing the operations of your business, serving the needs of your clients and continuing your team’s education to ensure you continue to be experts. Even so, marketing is an exercise you must participate in and the effort pays dividends.

Here are my Top Three Marketing New Year’s Resolutions

1) Know yourself and evaluate where you are – Google yourself. Where do you measure up compared to competitors? Where are your products and services being mentioned? Setup digest Google Alerts for these searches so that you are in the habit of seeing the results regularly. I am heading to adjust my Google Alerts right now.

2) Optimize your content – SEO is important. But do not take the approach of optimizing for the search engines and crawlers. Optimize for humans first. Your content needs to accessible, readable and most of all enjoyable to experience. Content that is informational, is entertaining, visually appealing and creative can help you stand out which drives your prospects and clients to remember you. We are seeing this as a big opportunity for our marketing efforts in 2016.

3) Stand out and try new things – don’t simply mimic competitors. Don’t simply compete by doing what others do. Think about your best services and how you can stand out from the crowd. Be different and LOVE IT. Harness the spirit of your team and infuse that into your marketing tactics.

I see 2016 as a wonderful opportunity for marketing and communicating with your clients.
